Cari fratelli e sorelle, cari amici!

In occasione del Primo Maggio, quando in molti paesi del mondo si manifesta per mostrare rispetto per i lavoratori, garantire la protezione dei loro diritti lavorativi e socio-economici, vi invio i miei sinceri saluti a nome della Federazione dei sindacati dell'Ucraina, la più grande confederazione sindacale del nostro stato, che rappresenta più di quattro milioni d'iscritti.

Oggi siamo qui, in uno dei sanatori del sindacato, dove alloggiano gli sfollati interni, persone che purtroppo hanno sofferto a causa dell'aggressione militare della Russia contro l'Ucraina. Hanno perso la casa, hanno perso il lavoro, hanno perso l'opportunità di vivere una vita normale. E qui, grazie al sostegno solidale e amichevole dell'Ituc, dell'Ilo e della Ces e dei sindacati di molte nazioni, oggi siamo in grado di dare rifugio a queste persone in splendidi edifici conservati dai sindacati per ripristinare e migliorare la salute dei lavoratori.

Ci sono più di 5.000 sfollati interni nei sanatori sindacali che qui soggiornano e mangiano gratuitamente grazie alla vostra assistenza umanitaria e finanziaria, amici.

Ecco perché vi ringrazio sinceramente a nome delle persone che si trovano qui, a nome dei membri del sindacato ucraino, per la vostra solidarietà e sostegno. Sono convinto che insieme ci batteremo per la pace, che la guerra finirà e che tempi di pace ci permetteranno di costruire un futuro migliore per i lavoratori.

Dear brothers and sisters, dear friends!

On the eve of the May Day, when workers in many countries of the world take part in rallies and demonstrations to show respect for workers, to ensure the protection of their labour and socio-economic rights, I extend my sincere greetings to you on behalf of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine, the largest trade union confederation in our state, representing more than four million members.

Today we are here, in one of the trade union sanatoriums, where internally displaced persons are staying. People who unfortunately have suffered because of the russia's military aggression against Ukraine. They have lost their homes, they have lost their job, they have lost the opportunity to live normal life.

And in this sanatorium, thanks to friendly solidarity support from the ITUC, ILO, ETUC and many national trade unions, we are able to give shelter to those people in these beautiful buildings preserved by trade unions to restore and improve the health of workers.

There are more than 5,000 IDPs in trade union sanatoriums staying for free and receiving free meals thanks to humanitarian and financial assistance from you, friends.

That’s why I sincerely thank you on behalf of the people who are here, on behalf of Ukrainian trade union members for your solidarity and support.

I am convinced that together we will stand up for peace, that the war will be over, and that peaceful times will allow us to build a better future for workers.
